This morning Samsung Korea announced the T*Omnia, Omnia’s big brother. Both are similar, however, the Korean version has several improved features; A slightly larger Screen 3.3” (Omnia has a 3.22”) A Higher Resolution 480 x 800 (Omnia has a 240 x 400 screen resolution) and a Digital TV Tuner. Rleader, from Allaboutsymbian has been in the trenches trying to figure the Omnia HD DLNA mystery. He reports, “Trying to view i8910 encoded 1280×720 HD recorded content on a ‘Full HD’ Samsung LCD TV *sigh* my journey continues – this is proving difficult.”

Samsung Mobile Innovators have been considering the Omnia HD’s AMR codec issue. BenM who is on the team had this to say in regards to the issue, “[He has] Escalated the AAC issue through the development team to understand the problem…”

Yesterday we reported on the sorry state of the AMR audio codec used on the Omnia HD. This video demonstrates the Omnia HD’s Achilles’ heel in a way words can’t describe. As the recording phone moves around you can hear audio distort. Video after the break.

While there are some complaints circulating forums the Omnia HD will not be improving its AMR-Narrow Band audio codec whilst recording video. It has been reported on the Samsung innovator forum that there are no plans to swap AMR codec for the better AAC codec.

How good is the Samsung Omnia HD’s GPS? HDblog.it demonstrates the phone’s aptitude in this video . This phone locks onto satellites very quickly. Could it replace your TomTom, I think so.
